Welcome to Year 4!
Over the year, in our Learning Journey we will be studying The Romans, Rainforests, Chocolate, undertaking a regional Study of Italy and Vikings. In Science the children will look at topics such as ‘In a state’, which focuses on studying states of matter, ‘Good Vibrations’, ‘Switched on’ and ‘Where does all the food go?’ before moving on to look at ‘Our changing world’.
Throughout the course of the year the Year 4 RE topics will include: Family, Belonging. Advent/Christmas, Community, Relating, Easter, Pentecost, Reconciliation and The World, in addition Year 4 will have the opportunity to study other Religions such as Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism.
Year 4 have PE twice a week on a Wednesday and a Friday. Full school PE kit is required for the children.
Learning Journey Homework is sent out on the Wednesday of the first full week of a term and expected in on the last Wednesday of the same term. It will be linked to class learning.
Spellings and Times tables test take place every Wednesday and the children undertake a weekly Multiplication Challenge in order to improve their times table knowledge. By the end of Year 4 children are expected by the government to know all of their times tables up to and including x12.
