Welcome to Year 3. Your teachers this year are Mrs Wagner and Miss Medley. Through our exciting and varied curriculum we are very much looking forward to sharing a busy, creative and fun filled year with you! In English we will be studying some great stories, which will include ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ by Roald Dahl, ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura’ and ‘Ottoline and the Yellow Cat’ by Chris Riddell along with exploring poetry and as well as looking at some non-fiction pieces on Tutankhamen, shocking fashions styles , Countries around the world.


In Math the children will be covering a range of units throughout the year, which will include, number and place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, money, length and perimeter, time, statistics and properties of shapes.


In addition, the children taking part in weekly spelling and times table’s tests as well as a weekly Multiplication Challenge. Our Learning Journey topics this year will include Life in the Stone Age, Ancient Egypt, Mountains and the Maya. In Science we will be investigating Magnets and forces, Animals including Humans, Light, Rocks and Plants.


The children will also benefit from taking part in two Physical Education sessions per week, lessons in I.C.T, Music and Art as well as completing weekly tasks on comprehension, S.P.A.G, handwriting and dictionary work.


In R.E. we will be exploring many themes starting with Homes and Families, Promises (Baptism) and Visitors (Advent). We will also be studying Judaism and other religions such as Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism. Most importantly, we will be helping to prepare you to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. This is a truly special time for you and your family and we feel honored to be able to share in your Sacramental Journey so closely.
